Picnic Fayre Cley-Next-The-Sea, North Norfolk. Run since 1984 by John and Vicky Pryor. You won’t leave empty handed. Apart from our pies, Sarah reckons they sell the best uncooked chorizo in Norfolk (possibly outside Spain) and has long loved their lavender focaccia bread - which is gorgeous and savoury in a fragrant rosemary-ish way. The Farmhouse Deli Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex - top tip if you are getting a flight from Stansted (or even driving along the M11) is to follow the signs for the airport long-stay carpark and then go straight over the roundabout by the carpark and in a minute or two you’ll find yourself in the village of Stansted Mountfitchet. The Farmhouse Deli has wonderful foods (including our pies) - any combination of which which you may find to be a much nicer treat for grazing whilst waiting for a flight than the in-house catering.
It’s only a very short drive off the motorway and I’d suggest easily beats the food available on the M11 services into a cocked hat.
Sue, who runs the deli, is very nice too. 01279 647655

EAT17 deli - 28-30 Orford Road, Walthamstow Village, London. As they say - “food with no funny stuff” – a villagey retreat in the hustle and bustle of urban East London. They are also stocking Grain Beer from our chums Geoff and Phil, which we drop off for them when we deliver the pies. The perfect combo; a pie and a pint. (All part of our master plan - Norfolk is gradually taking over the world!)
