North Norfolk

Our very local stockists… or, a foodie tour of North Norfolk. Home of some of the best food in the UK.

Bakers & Larners, Holt - Holt’s treasure trove and department store. The Food Hall  is a cornucopia of delights. Look out for our pies on the deli counter.

John and Vic at Picnic Fayre

Picnic Fayre, Cley (one of five finalists in UK Deli of The Year 2010) One of the landmark shops on the beautiful North Norfolk coast road. A thriving business for the last 25 years – when we go to London for events, this is the place people who have visited Norfolk remember. Handy Coast Hopper bus stop just outside and wonderful ice creams.

The Grove Hotel, Cromer – A beautiful country hotel in the former home of the Gurney family (who founded Barclays bank). The pies feature on the lunch menu and can be bought to take away (best to phone first and reserve your pies 01263 512412) Twitter @TheGroveCromer

Diane’s Pantry, Reepham – wonderful shop, selling a fantastic range of food in the delightful market town square.

Rutlands Butcher, Melton Constable (EDP Butcher of The Year 2010) Renowned far and wide for being the nicest people in retail. And amazing butchers. As a look at their awards page will testify.

Back To The Garden, Letheringsett Award winning farmshop and cafe, just outside Holt on the Fakenham Road and housed in a beautifully restored barn (featured in Matthew Rice’s great book Building Norfolk) with Pete’s famous cheese and deli counter. One of our nearest neighbours and generally have a wide range of our pies in stock. Twitter @Back_ToGarden

Norfolk Wildlife Trust Visitor’s Centre, Cley - the cafe with the best view in Norfolk, over-looking the salt marshes, with telescopes available to use. Very close to Pie HQ so a great place to sneak down to for coffee and a cake.

Pensthorpe – Made famous by BBC Springwatch, one of our favourite delivery places as there are always birds wandering around to see. The pies are in the very nice cafe. Twitter @pensthorpe

The Ship Inn, Weybourne One of the nicest pubs on the coast.

Stiffkey Stores Generally held to be the prettiest shop on the coast. always a beautiful display of cut flowers outside and fabulous things to buy indoors. Stiffkey also has the coolest “glamping” site in Norfolk.

The Anchor, Morston. Lovely pub doing great food. Book and collect your tickets for the famous seal trips to Blakeney Point here too (and ask Harry if you can take a pie with you too!). The times for today’s seal trips are on their website. Twitter @morston_anchor

Catesby’s Tea Garden, Wells Next The Sea - Open in the summer months, Catesby’s serve the nicest cream tea in north Norfolk in a beautiful courtyard. And a fine pork pie ploughman’s. Look out for the door on the left as you walk up Staithe Street. Twitter @Catesbys

Bintree Farm Shop – also on the Norwich Fakenham Road, a lovely farm shop who stock a lot of their own farm grown produce when in season. And great pork pies all year round.

Holkham HallStables Café and Rose Garden Café Part of the majestic Holkham Estate and beside the award winning Holkham beach – often cited as the best beach in the UK. The Stables is beside the hall and The Rose Garden down beside the coast road and handy for post-walk revival. Twitter @holkham

The Greedy Goose Café, Mannington Hall - Mannington is a beautiful moated Tudor house, the stunning gardens are open from Spring to Autumn. And The Greedy Goose cafe is a gem – serving wonderful Norfolk food from a 20 mile radius and lots of home made goodies.
