Union Yard Cafe. St Stephen’s Street (at the bottom of Surrey Street, next to Jonathan Trumbull’s). A brilliant City Centre cafe stocking the best of Norfolk local producers. Don’t get your coffee and croissant from Starbucks – get them from here (baked at Dozen bakery). And buy a very good pork pie too of course!
Clarke & Ravenscroft, St Gregory’s Alley. A delightful small deli, much championed by Delia Smith 01603 230 027
Howard’s Fishmonger, Fye Bridge Street, Norwich. A fine fishmongers that’s been there for 120 years and run by the 4th generation of the family. Sells interesting things like chowder and gumbo as well as very good fish. 01603 624928
The Playhouse Bar, St George’s Street. A brilliant bar, next to the Playhouse Theatre, set next to an idyllic stretch of the river in Norwich. Run by the very wonderful Last’s restaurant, so bound to be good! 01603 766669
Amaretto, St George’s Street, Fantastic deli run by Fabrizio, so very strong on Italian food, but also lots of excellent Spanish goodies and the best of local food too.
Rumsey Wells Pub, St Andrew’s – great City Centre pub that takes a real pride in their food.
The Reindeer Pub, Dereham Road. Getting a reputation as one of the best food pubs in Norwich, with a Michelin trained chef.
The Kett’s Tavern, Ketts Hill – run by landlady Dawn, a lovely pub selling excellent beer from their own micro-brewery. And they make a very goo in-house bacon jam too…
Dunston Hall, Ipswich Road. Norwich’s premier hotel, in a stunning setting.
Green Pasture’s Farm Shop, Bergh Apton – a garden centre with a very long history, now run by James and Michelle, Green Pastures was set up by Jame’s grandfather. The garden centre has a thriving farm shop, where the bake the pies in their own kitchen, fresh each weekend.
